Tobacco-free Policy
The new BHS tobacco-free policy will apply to all locations owned and leased by BHS, including parking areas. The policy applies to anyone on these sites including patients, visitors, employees, medical staff, volunteers and students. The new policy will take effect on September 2, 2008, giving BHS time to implement an ongoing public education campaign and allowing individuals to prepare for the change.
The current BHS policy prohibits smoking indoors but allows designated smoking areas. With the new policy, these areas will be eliminated for the protection of patients and visitors. The smoke-free policy will include all facilities of BHS including Outpatient Services, the former Morgan II property, Family First Resource Center, BHS WholeHealth and the Benbrook Medical center.
