BMH Hosts Eat Well For Life Course
July 15, 2008 - (BUTLER, PA) - Is your nutrition out of balance? Are you looking to learn more healthy ways of eating? Do you want to control your weight? If yes, the Eat Well for Life Class is designed for you. This 4-week series program, created by Highmark, will be held at Butler Memorial Hospital.
An upcoming evening session will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 pm on October 8, 15, 22 and 29.
Eat Well For Life I and II are lifestyle improvement programs that promote wellness and long-term weight management through balanced nutrition, physical activity and stress management. Participants will obtain the knowledge necessary to make healthful food and lifestyle choices and will be encouraged to adopt the practices necessary to achieve a balanced lifestyle and long-term weight management.
Eat Well For Life is not a diet or strict weight-loss program. Rather, it is designed to help individuals raise their awareness of current eating behaviors and their impact on health and to promote health and overall well-being through good nutrition. Eat Well For Life will include a combination of educational lectures, self-study and goal setting components as well as experiential activities such as a grocery store tour and food preparation demonstration.
By adopting a lifestyle approach to nutrition and weight management, one that encourages small, realistic and permanent lifestyle changes over time, one can achieve a state of balance that promotes health and wellness, long-term weight management and reduced risk for chronic disease.
The program includes a combination of educational presentations, self-study and goal setting components. There is no fee for Highmark members to participate with a nominal fee for others. Eat Well for Life II participants must have attended an Eat Well for Life I program.
